Take One Car is a rock band based out of Poughkeepsie, NY, comprised of members: Tyler Irish, Pete Scholes, Brittany Maccarello & Branden Waite. The band is often referred to as a post-rock group because of their mixture of heavy riffs, cymbal-driven drums, haunting guitar melodies, and occasional ambient sounds. This was best demonstrated in their 2009 release, When The Ceiling Meets The Floor. (A good listen for fans of Bear vs Shark, At The Drive-In, & MewithoutYou.) Since the release, Take One Car has earned a decent underground following and reputation for their energetic live show. In 2010 they performed at The Bamboozle Music Festival and completed a 30 day US tour. Currently the band is working on their sophomore record scheduled for a 2011 release.

Bio: New Jersey’s own songwriters Andrew and Skip Robinson began playing together while attending Christian Brothers Academy, an all boy’s prep school in Lincroft, New Jersey. In a school that honed it’s focus on educating future business leaders, the duo have said that the lack of creative diversity was one of the primary catalysts in pursuing original music early on. The two used the time to develop their songwriting drawing from influences in experimental rock such as Modest Mouse, The Dirty Projectors and Of Montreal. Andrew Robinson (20) has been described by his band as “a strange kid trying really hard to be normal”. As the primary lyricist and lead singer, Andrew has been said to derive much of his inspiration from singers such as Win Butler, and Zach Condon. Skip Robinson compliments his brother with an energy that ignites each song. Skip’s musicianship as well as singing and songwriting provide the group with a perfect balance of creativity and musicianship. With the help of producer Jon Leidersdorff of Lakehouse Music , the two first entered the recording studio in 2008. Since then, the boys have used their time to continue touring. With the help of musicians Brendon Pierson and Tom Dazell, The Underwater Country Club have continued to increase their creative dynamic as well as local popularity. The boys have recently recorded their first full length record “For Lack of a better word, I think I love you” that was released December 2010.
